We Care Academy

If you are passionate about helping others, like working with people, want to make a difference in your community, and have a job that has rewarding long-term prospects then consider a career in Social Care.

We have exciting opportunities for people who want to work in social care, to join a free employability programme called Step into Care for new Care Assistants and Support Workers; this may lead to the opportunity of a job offer with a social care provider in your local area.

If you’re interested, we will invite you to one of our information and assessment days, to find out more about the different opportunities. If you’re successful in joining the programme, we’ll help you to find your first role in social care.

We will

  • pay for an enhanced portable DBS
  • complete Right to Work
  • complete a full work history
  • provide 2 days face to face training
  • provide 8 eLearning modules for you to complete
  • complete references
  • organise for you to complete a one-week unpaid shadowing experience of up to a maximum of 30 hours
  • following this you will be offered a guaranteed interview for one of the vacancies

You don’t need any prior care experience to join the programme, we are looking for people with the right values, behaviours, and attitudes who want to make a positive difference to peoples lives. The step into Care programme supports care providers across the city including our Leeds City Council internal care services. There are a variety of hours and different shift patterns which can include days, weekends, evenings, nights, and public holidays.

There are lots of career and development opportunities available. Click here to learn more about some of the qualifications you can obtain whilst working in social care.
